AmerIndian Architecture
Bemidji, MN 2003
The goal of this 10,000 square foot facility is to help integrate the Ojibwe culture with the academic experience of Native American students, and the student body as a whole. It features a large oval gathering space in an abstract lodge form, as well as a student lounge, classrooms, computer lab, meeting rooms, exhibit areas, office space, and a kitchen. The gathering space is clad in simulated stone and pre-finished metal. A brick cavity wall with interior burnished concrete block provides visual warmth and durability to the rectangular wing of the building.
